Downloading child porn from the internet lands Georgetown man in prison
A Georgetown man has been sentenced following a child pornography investigation, officials said Tuesday.
Steven Hewitt pleaded guilty to one count of sexual exploitation of a minor, according to a press release from the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office. Judge Michael Nettles sentenced him last month to five years in prison.
Hewitt was arrested May 2021 after an investigation revealed he had been downloading child sexual abuse material from the internet.
The release stated Hewitt was already on the sex offender registry for another unrelated crime.
