Nine children taken to hospital after possible chlorine exposure

Nine children were transported to Waccamaw Community Hospital after possible chlorine exposure at pool in Oceanside Village, according to Assistant Chief J.R. Haney with Murrells Inlet Garden City Fire Rescue.

Haney said the nine children were transported Wednesday afternoon to be evaluated after reporting irritation in their eyes and airways.

The children's injuries are not serious, he said, and all are just being evaluated for possible chlorine exposure.
