Man charged in hit-and-run in connection with fatal Myrtle Beach crash
A man has been arrested after police say he left the scene of a fatal crash Sunday in Myrtle Beach.
Herberto Polo faces a hit-and-run charge, according to arrest warrants. He was arrested Sunday.
Mayte Lopez, 42, who is from Mexico but lived in the Myrtle Beach area, died from injuries sustained in the crash, according to Deputy Coroner Patty Bellamy.
The crash happened on Highway 17 Bypass and 38th Avenue North in Myrtle Beach around 2 a.m., Bellamy said.
When officers retrieved information on the Chevrolet Tahoe that left the scene of the crash, they found Polo at the registered address, who admitted driving the vehicle when the wreck happened, warrants state.
The Myrtle Beach Police Department is investigating.
No additional details about the crash have been released.
