Police are investigating after images of graffiti and “unconfirmed threats” were posted on social media.

Images of graffiti were shared on social media and unconfirmed threats were made toward a school, according to a Facebook post from the Myrtle Beach Police Department.

A specific school wasn’t named in the image, according to Lisa Bourcier, spokesperson for Horry County Schools. The image is being shared around Myrtle Beach and other areas in the state, she said.

“All principals and law enforcement agencies are aware of the social media image,” Bourcier wrote in an email to The Sun News. ”There is no indication that the image has any direct correlation to any schools in Horry County.”

Students and staff notified police of the images Friday morning, police said. The images weren’t from a school in the area, but “additional resources” were allocated to the schools.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact police at 843-918-1343 or intelunit@cityofmyrtlebeach.com.
