One man is in custody after a shooting injured another person at the Ocean Reef Resort in Myrtle Beach Saturday night.

The Myrtle Beach Police Department responded to the Ocean Boulevard hotel after a report of gunshots around 11:30 p.m.

One unidentified person was located with injuries and taken to the hospital, and is expected to recover, police announced late Saturday.

A suspect fled the scene and was identified by investigators as Jamie Lee Pickett, 29, of Wadesboro, NC, shortly after the incident, police said.

An investigation found the shooting began as a domestic situation between Pickett and another person and the shooting victim attempted to intervene.

Pickett was taken into custody by South Carolina Highway Patrol after being involved in a crash just north of Myrtle Beach, according to jail records.

He is currently being held at J. Reuben Long Detention Center for charges stemming from the crash.

He will also be charged with attempted murder, discharging firearms into a dwelling and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, police announced Sunday morning.
