Man arrested after police said woman was knocked to the ground and kicked
A man was arrested after a woman told police she was knocked to the ground after being hit in the head several times then kicked in the ribs, according to a police report.
Eric Cameron Jones, 41, was arrested Monday and charged with second-degree assault and battery in connection with the incident, police said.
Officers were called about 7 a.m. Monday to a home on the 300 block of First Avenue North where a 36-year-old woman reported the incident.
The victim told police she and Jones were drinking beer through the night and early morning. The victim said she left for a little while and when she returned, she said Jones got up and said, “You wanna go,” according to the report.
The victim told police Jones then started jumping around like a boxer and hit her in the head several times until she fell to the ground. The victim said she curled up in to a ball, and Jones then kicked her in the ribs, authorities said.
The victim told police she got up and ran to a neighbor’s house for help. Police said the victim was taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Authorities said doctors at the hospital told them the victim had a broken nose and two cuts that were glued closed, but would have otherwise needed 12 stitches, according to the report.
