A man was arrested in connection with aggravated domestic violence after a woman was smothered with a pillow, choked and punched, according to a police report.
Scott Thomas Ingram, 27, of Myrtle Beach, was charged on Monday with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature and taken to the Myrtle Beach Jail, authorities said.
Ingram’s bond had not been set on Tuesday morning, according to jail records.
Myrtle Beach officers were called about 2:30 a.m. Monday to a home on the 6300 block of Timberline Street, off 65th Avenue North, where a 29-year-old woman reported the incident, police said.
The victim told police that Ingram threw her down on the couch and covered her face with a pillow, which kept her from breathing, authorities said.
The victim said Ingram choked her and punched her in the face, and police noted a scratch, along with bruising and redness, on the victim’s face, according to the report.
Police said they spoke with Ingram, who denied anything physical had happened, and said the fight had only been verbal.
However, authorities said they noticed signs of a struggle, including pillows in disarray, some of the victim’s hair extensions had been ripped out and were on the floor, and items from a table had been knocked in the floor.
