An afternoon riding jet skis ended in rape, police say. Two men are in custody.
Two men are behind bars after police say they raped two minor females after taking them for a ride on their jet skis.
Brandon Soles, 35 and Ryan Schneider, 27 were arrested Friday after Horry County police say they took two 17-year-old girls on a jet ski ride near Red Bluff Boat Landing in Longs, SC.
A friend of the victims told police the girls got on jetskis with the men and hadn’t returned for two hours after taking off down the Waccamaw River.
When one of the men returned without the victim he told police she wanted to get off the jet ski because she was sick and refused to get back on, so he left her on the river bank. Horry County Fire Rescue and the Department of Natural Resources started to search for the girl.
Meanwhile, the second man returned with one of the girls and he was arrested.
As the search continued, the second girl heard a DNR vehicle and followed its sound out of the woods.
The two men were charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor. They were taken to J. Reuben Long Detention Center where they are being held without bond.
If found guilty of criminal sexual conduct with a minor, the men face a mandatory minimum of 25 years without the possibility of probation, or must be imprisoned for life. They face another three years for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
