Man accused of double murder in Horry County could soon be back on the streets.

An Horry County man accused of killing two people in 2017 will soon be back on the street despite violating previous bond conditions.

Brandon Gore is accused of shooting and killing 26-year-old Dexter Cobb and Cobb’s 25-year-old sister, Porscha, inside the siblings’ Galivants Ferry home in September 2017. He was granted bail despite the wishes of the victims’ family in March 2018. Part of his bond conditions included home monitoring.

He was arrested on a drug charge in January 2020 and remained in jail for violating his bond. Senior Assistant Solicitor Nancy Livesay said the state agreed to release Gore on bond again in March 2020 as officials looked to reduce the population at J. Reuben Long Detention Center because of COVID-19.

“He’s not a good candidate for home dentition,” Livesay said. “But, we have the coronavirus, so I was trying to accommodate everybody.”

Gore went back on home detention in the spring but violated its terms, officers testified during a hearing in Horry County court this week. Part of the terms included making regular payments to cover the cost of home monitoring and regular check-ins.

Defense Attorney Morgan Martin argued the conditions of Gore’s release this March were unfair because his clients needed to work to pay the $400 monthly detention fee.

“It’s hard to get a job when you’re charged with murder,” Martin said.

Detention officers also told the judge that Gore hadn’t completed any of his bi-monthly check-ins since July and after police found open containers of alcohol in the car with him and his girlfriend. They also told the judge Gore was traveling to “known drug locations.”

Gore’s lawyer argued meeting home detention requirements was challenging and Judge William Seals agreed to remove them, saying Gore will need to be monitored by GPS upon his release. The judge also issued a $75,000 bond on the older charges, in addition to a $5,000 bond on the drug charge.
