Youth, who was 17 at the time, found in bed with 5-year-old, Horry County police say
An 18-year-old man is in custody after police say he raped a young boy.
Sometime before October 2019, Jonathan Moore molested a 5-year-old boy near Sweetwater Boulevard in Murrells Inlet, according to Horry County police reports.
Moore was 17 at the time of the alleged incident.
Moore’s mother walked in on him and the victim in bed, she later questioned him and he admitted to being in bed with the child before, according to reports.
When the report was first filed last fall, Surfside Beach Police questioned Moore, who denied doing anything. The report states that Moore claimed to have been molested and police told him to report it to Horry County Police. They did not charge Moore at the time and marked the investigation open.
Moore was arrested Saturday morning and charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor. He was booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on $5,000 bail. He is currently released to home detention.
