Myrtle Beach man claimed to be a cop, pointed gun at kid’s head, report says
A Myrtle Beach man pretended to be a cop and pulled a gun on a child, police say.
Horry County police arrested Robin Samero on Wednesday and charged him with impersonating a law enforcement officer and pointing a firearm at a person.
On Aug 13, police responded to a call about a man claiming to be a police officer and pulling out a gun near Laurens Mills Drive. The victim told police that a group of friends were inside a house and one of them stole a laptop that belonged to someone’s brother.
That person’s brother got home and confronted the group who left the house, according to reports. While they walked through the neighborhood the brother and his father, Samero, drove up to the group. Samero, 64, told the group he was a police officer and was going to take them to the police station.
The victim told police that Samero then got out of his car and grabbed him by the arm, pulling out a pistol and holding it to his head while demanding the laptop. The report did not indicate the child’s age.
A witness who was in Samero’s truck got a voice recording of the interaction, the report states.
Samero is being held at J. Reuben Long Detention Center without bail. He faces up to six years in jail.
