Carjacking victim who was flung from her car files suit against her attacker

The victim of a violent carjacking from earlier this year is suing her alleged attacker in Horry County court.

Roxanne Warner filed a civil lawsuit Tuesday against Jason Willetts, who is accused of stealing her car and leading cops on a chase.

The lawsuit states Warner pulled into a gas station on March 12 located at 3735 Renee Drive in the Carolina Forest area driving a 2018 Dodge Journey.

While she was filling her back tires with air, Willetts jumped into her driver’s seat, according to court documents. Warner tried to get into the passenger side but couldn’t fully enter the car before Willetts took off.

Warner was dragged through the gas station parking lot until Willetts flung her from the car, according to the lawsuit. Warner hit the pavement and “suffered injuries that required medical treatment and will require medical care, and treatment in the future” the suit states.

Witnesses helped care for the victim and called for police after the incident.

Willetts fled the scene and led police on a chase that ended when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed.

Horry County police charged with with failure to stop for blue lights, assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and strong armed robbery. He is being held in J. Reuben Long Detention Center without bail.
