A mom was on the beach as her 3-year-old nearly drowned in a Myrtle Beach pool, according to an arrest report.
Myrtle Beach police charged Ashley Scott, 29, with unlawful neglect of a child in connection to the incident. She is being held in Myrtle Beach jail without bond.
Officers responded to 107 S. Ocean Blvd. about 9 p.m. Thursday for a reported drowning, according to an arrest warrant.
Video surveillance showed an unsupervised 3-year-old around a pool for about 15 minutes, according to the warrant. The child then went into the pool and was under water for three minutes.
Scott, the child’s mom, was on the beach at the time and could not see the pool, according to the warrant.
The child was rescued and resuscitated, spitting up significant amounts of water, according to the warrant.
Scott took the child away from witnesses and to a nearby hotel room after the incident, according to police radio traffic.
Unlawful neglect of a child is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
