A man faces up to a decade in prison after police say he attacked another person while armed with a knife at a Myrtle Beach Burger King.

Myrtle Beach police charged Jonathan Arile Richardson, 28, with first-degree assault and battery in connection to the incident.

Around 8 p.m. Thursday, Myrtle Beach police went to the Burger King, 501 S. Kings Highway, for a reported assault.

The victim and a witness told police that Richardson tried to attack the victim with a folding pocket knife, according to an arrest warrant. The victim incapacitated Richardson in self-defense, police said.

Both the victim and Richardson were injured in the altercation, according the warrant.

First-degree assault and battery is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
