Machete-wielding confrontation ends in bystander getting shot in Myrtle Beach: report

A man claiming to be a bystander in a confrontation on Cedar Street in Myrtle Beach was shot, according to a police report.

Myrtle Beach police officers went to Cedar Street around 10 p.m. Monday for a reported shooting.

A witness said there was a confrontation between a group of Hispanic men and black men, according to the report.

The victim said he was caught in the crossfire and had nothing to do with the groups, the report states. Some of the Hispanic men had machetes and then started to shoot, the victim said.

The man was shot in the groin and went to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Officers have not made any arrests in the case.
