84-year-old woman dies following shooting in Surfside Beach area
An 84-year-old woman died as a result of injuries sustained in a shooting Friday afternoon, according to Horry County Deputy Coroner Patty Bellamy.
The coroner’s office has not yet released the name of the victim.
The woman suffer “serious injuries” in the shooting, Horry County police stated earlier Friday afternoon.
One person is in custody in connection to the shooting on Edisto Court. An elderly man was being held in the back of a police car about an hour after the shooting.
Horry County police went to an Edisto Court home around 2:30 p.m. for the reported shooting, noting there was no threat to the public in connection with the incident.
Edisto Court is located in The Lakes Subdivision off Holmestown Road in the Surfside Beach area. Several police officers are on scene and investigating the shooting.
Horry County police are actively investigating the incident.
