Horry County police arrest five in connection to kidnapping of an adult
Five people were charged in connection to a kidnapping outside of Myrtle Beach this week, according to Horry County police.
Officers went to Blackstone Drive outside of Myrtle Beach around 3 a.m. for a report of a kidnapping. The adult victim left home with a person they knew, police said. The suspect then held the victim against their will.
The suspect also sent threatening messages to another person saying if she didn’t pay they would hurt the victim, according to a police report.
The victim was found around 7 a.m. near S.C. Highway 544, according to police. The victim has since been reunited with their family.
Five people — three adults and two juveniles — were taken into custody, police said. The adults are in J. Reuben Long Detention Center and the juveniles went to the Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbia. The juveniles have not been identified.
Horry police charged Brian Charles Carmichael, 24, Kurtis Dan Jackson, 26, and Hannah Carol-Lynn McGuiness, 18, each with armed robbery and kidnapping in connection to the case.
