Teen charged as adult for shooting another teen in the Conway area, Horry police say

A 17-year-old was charged as an adult for shooting another teen in the Conway area Tuesday afternoon, police say.

Horry County police announced Wednesday that David Christian Delacruz faces counts of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He was booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center on Tuesday and is being held on $25,000 bail.

Officers went to Fox Tail Pine Drive near Conway for a reported shooting around 3:40 p.m. Tuesday. Officers found a 15-year-old shot, and police radio traffic indicated the victim was shot in the head. The victim went to the hospital, according to Horry County police.

Investigators determined Delacruz fled the scene and was responsible for the shooting. He turned himself in to police a short time later.

Assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature is punishable by up to 20 years in prison. Possession of a weapon during a violent crime is punishable by up to five years incarceration.
