Woman hit in face, dragged by car during argument with man in Myrtle Beach: report

A woman told police that her boyfriend hit her in the face several times and she was dragged by a vehicle while trying to escape him following an argument, according to a Myrtle Beach incident report.

On Saturday night, police responded to the public beach access at 1st Avenue North for the report of a domestic disturbance. Officers met with the complainant, who told them the victim had been beaten up at some point that day, the report states.

The complainant told police she saw the victim sitting on the steps of the beach access with a man. She began to talk to the man and woman about their relationship and what had been going on, which made the offender uneasy so he left, according to the report.

The victim said she needed help and the complainant then called the police. The victim told officers that the offender — later identified as Christopher Matthew Madden — picked her up from Sticky Fingers earlier in the day and they began to argue. She said the fact she recently learned that he was cheating on her started the argument, the report states.

During the argument, Madden hit the victim in the face several times and she yelled to him to let her out of the car, but he would not stop, according to the report. She then tried to jump out of the vehicle while it was moving but Madden grabbed her by the shirt to keep her in the vehicle, police say. The victim told police she was dragged by the car before Madden finally stopped. She said that after he stopped she got back in and they went to the beach access, where they were approached by the complainant, the report states.

Police learned that Madden and the victim had been dating for four months and lived together since. The victim had swelling on her face that was consistent with being hit, and she told officers the black eye was from an incident with Madden from earlier in the week, according to the report.

Police noted they would be pursuing arrest warrants for second-degree assault. As of Sunday afternoon, there were no online records showing an arrest.
