59-year-old tells police he was robbed at Carolina Forest area apartment complex

A 59-year-old man said he was put in a headlock and robbed of his phone and hundreds of dollars, police say.

Horry County officers went to the Indigo at 110 apartments, on Chanticleer Village Drive, around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday for the reported robbery.

The victim said he was looking for a friend’s apartment when an unknown man asked if he needed help, according to a police report.

The suspect pointed the victim toward an apartment, and the man looked in that direction, the report states. That is when the suspect put him in a headlock and held something metal against his neck. The suspect demanded the victim’s phone and his money.

The victim said he gave the man about $600, the report states. The suspect then told the victim to go home and not look back.

Officers searched the area for the suspect, but were not successful, the report states.
