Myrtle Beach strip club busted and accused of being a ‘brothel’ could be forced to close

A Myrtle Beach strip club that police say served as a “brothel” and allowed prostitution is in more legal trouble.

The state, via 15th Judicial Circuit Solicitor Jimmy Richardson, filed a “nuisance” complaint against Derriere’s Gentlemen’s Club on Tuesday in Horry County court.

Myrtle Beach police raided the Seaboard Street club during an investigation last month. Within hours, officers announced the business essentially operated as a “brothel,” and they had evidence of more than 200 acts of prostitution at the club.

Myrtle Beach detectives charged eight people in connection to the investigation.

David Bean, who operates the club, Seaboard Ventures Inc. and BHN Inc., are named as the defendants in the latest filing. Bean was one of the eight people criminally charged.

The state’s filing notes the recent police investigation and says there is video evidence of customers giving the dancers money and the dancers then giving the money to bouncers. The dancers then went to a back room and immediately engaged in sexual activity.

“[The alleged conduct] which occurred on the premises are offensive to the public decency, morals, peace and health and constitute a public nuisance,” the filing reads.

The state asked a judge to issue an injunction that will close the strip club for one year.

A phone number at Derriere’s is not operational. Since the raid, the club has had its lights on during business hours, but it did not appear to have customers on two separate nights.
