‘I’m a good person’ MB robbery suspect tells judge. Then his criminal history was read.

Armed robbery suspect Christian Lacombe tried to convince a Myrtle Beach municipal bond to give him reasonable bail.

He talked about raising his child and said he was not a threat to the community.

“I’m a good person,” Lacombe said.

It was then Judge Scott Long looked at and started to read Lacombe’s criminal history. It started more than a decade ago, and included arrests in nearly every year since.

Juvenile charges, marijuana possession, assault, failure to appear for a felony, shoplifting, domestic violence, breaking and entering into three cars, carrying a weapon, another breaking into an automobile, resisting arrest, shoplifting, more shoplifting.

Long told Lacombe — and all other defendants in court — that he considered whether the suspect was a flight risk and danger to society when setting bond. With that, the judge set Lacombe’s bail at $30,000.

Lacombe fell to his knees at the news and started to cry. It was only seconds later when an officer approached that he composed himself and stood.

The hearing was one of the more notable during weekend bond court in Myrtle Beach. Police charged Lacombe with armed robbery in connection to a Feb. 16 incident.

The victim said he met Lacombe to buy a tool set. Once the victim handed over the money, Lacombe tried to grab the tools back, according to an arrest warrant. That is when Lacombe showed a gun, took the money and the tools and left the area.

The victim identified Lacombe through Facebook and a J. Reuben Long Detention Center booking photo that was posted online, according to the warrant.
