Man charged with assault after slapping another male on backside at Myrtle Beach bar

A man is facing an assault charge after slapping another man on the backside and saying “Let’s go. There are girls out there.” while out at a Myrtle Beach entertainment venue, according to a police report.

Police went to 810 Billiards & Bowling in The Market Common a little after 8 p.m. Friday for the report of an assault in the bathroom, the report states. An officer spoke to the offender — later identified as Michael Wayne Walden Jr. — who said he was just excited and being friendly when he slapped the victim — also an employee of the establishment — on the backside, cops say.

Walden told police he goes to 810 all the time and that he was excited and ready to have a good time when incident took place. According to the report, he told officers he thought it was just a “friendly gesture” to have a good time out there and that he didn’t know the other man was an employee at the bar, restaurant and entertainment venue.

The victim said he came out of the stall and Walden slapped him on the butt and said “Woo!” in excitement, the report states. The employee replied “You don’t do that” and both left without incident, cops say.

Walden contended he slapped the victim on the lower back, not the butt.

The victim told police he wanted to press charges and Walden was charged with third-degree assault. Walden was also informed he’d been indefinitely trespassed from the venue.
