67-year old man accused of abusing children in Horry County

A 67-year-old man is accused of sexually abusing children and now faces decades in prison.

Horry County police arrested and charged George Edward Priest, of Longs, with second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor. He was booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center on Tuesday and remains incarcerated on $25,000 bond.

Priest faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.

The police investigation started in October after a counseling session where the victim described sexual abuse, according to a police report. The victim, who is between 11 and 14 years old, said the abuse happened during the past year.

Police went to Priest’s home where several other children also lived. The children were moved to another home as officers investigated the allegations, according to the report.

The victim told police that he was afraid for the other children. One other child also reported Priest sexually abused them, the report states.
