Authorities investigating homicide after man found dead near Bucksport area, coroner says

Authorities are investigating the death of a 29-year-old Latta man as a homicide.

Horry County Deputy Coroner Patty Bellamy confirmed Saturday that the death of Matthew Frazier is being investigated as a homicide. Frazier died in the Bucksport area from injuries sustained in what Horry County police initially described only as a “death investigation” after finding him deceased Friday, Bellamy said.

Frazier was found covered in blood and had been dead for “a while,” according to police radio traffic. Officers indicated on radio traffic that there were no suspects at the location where he was found.

Horry County police announced Friday they were conducting a death investigation outside of Conway. The agency tweeted that police and investigators were investigating near the 1200 block of Bucksport Road, which is in the Bucksport area of Horry County.

Bellamy said an autopsy is scheduled for Sunday and noted that the investigation is ongoing.
