One killed in traffic-related shooting incident near Loris, police say
One person died following a “traffic-related” shooting incident outside Loris, according to Horry County Public Information Officer Mikayla Moskov.
The shooting took place early Saturday morning near S.C. 9 and Log Cabin Road, Moskov said. The Horry County Coroner’s Office stated that one person was killed in the incident.
The incident was reported around 2:30 a.m. as a motor-vehicle crash, but then a person passing by reported seeing bullet holes in a vehicle, according to police radio traffic. Police found the victim inside the car, dead, with a gunshot wound.
S.C. 9 was closed in both directions as police and detectives investigated the incident before reopening around 9:30 a.m., according to Moskov.
The coroner has not released the name of the person killed, and so far no one has been charged in connection to the incident.
