Myrtle Beach man tried to harm his mom with a knife, now he faces a decade behind bars

A 23-year-old threatened his mom with a knife and now finds himself facing 10 years in prison, according to court records.

Myrtle Beach police charged Jordan Allen Taylor-Cruz with first-degree assault and battery. He was booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center on Wednesday. He remains incarcerated as bail has not been set in his case.

Myrtle Beach police responded to David’s Landing, 2708 S. Ocean Blvd., on Jan. 21 for a reported assault.

Taylor-Cruz tried to harm his mom with a pocket knife by jumping over a counter and raising the blade at her, according to an arrest warrant.

The report doesn’t specify if Taylor-Cruz physically harmed his mother.

First-degree assault and battery is punishable by up to a decade in prison.
