Police nab suspect in string of downtown Conway business burglaries

A 42-year-old burglarized several downtown Conway businesses, police say.

Conway police announced on Tuesday they arrested Jeremy Dickson Shelton on several burglary-related counts in connection to the spree. The burglaries all happened in recent days.

Shelton is being held at J. Reuben Long Detention Center.

He was charged with the following crimes at popular businesses:

  • Second-degree burglary at 916 Third Ave. (River City Accents)
  • Second-degree burglary at 1022 Third Ave. (3rd Ave Grill)
  • Second-degree burglary at 308 Elm Street (Fostering Hope)
  • Second-degree attempted burglary at 1400 Fourth Ave. (Daisy Fair Flowers)
  • Second-degree attempted burglary at 418 Wright Blvd. (Mermaids Parlor)
  • Second-degree attempted burglary at 1322 Fourth Ave. (Essential Massage and Wellness)
  • Second-degree attempted burglary at 307 Laurel Street (Carolina Appliance and Furniture)
  • Third-degree burglary at 508 Beaty Street (First Baptist Church)
  • Obtaining Goods by False Pretense at 618 Church St (Pawn South)

Several of the businesses reported that employees game to the shops to find the suspect forced their way inside, according to police reports. At River City Accents, the back door was open and about $250 was taken from the money drawer.

At Third Avenue Grill, the suspect forced their way in overnight and stole about $60 from a register, the reports state.

The First Baptist Church also reported that yard equipment was taken from a garage, according to the reports.
