Woman beaten, robbed as she dropped off mail at the Myrtle Beach post office, cops say
A woman dropping off mail at the downtown Myrtle Beach post office was beaten and robbed, according to a police report.
Myrtle Beach police responded to the North Kings Highway post office on Saturday for the reported robbery. The busy branch is at the intersection of 5th Avenue North.
The victim said she went to the facility to send mail and saw Christopher Jamar Bellamy lying on a table, according to the report.
After dropping off her mail, she saw Bellamy get up and approach, the report states. Bellamy then hit her in the head multiple times and took her wallet. The victim identified Bellamy as her attacker.
Police charged Bellamy, 28, with strong-armed robbery and resisting arrest. He is being held in J. Reuben Long Detention Center on $75,464 bond. Bellamy faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted.
