Employee accused of scamming Horry County auto parts store out of thousands of dollars

An Horry County auto parts store employee is accused of stealing thousands of dollars from the company, according to a police report.

Horry County police charged William Fields, 45, of Conway, with breach of trust between $2,000 and $10,000. He was booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center on Sunday and released after posting $5,000 bond.

Officers started an investigation into the Murrells Inlet Advanced Auto Parts after a reported larceny. A security employee told police Fields stole more than $4,500 from the business, according to the report.

Fields’ alleged scheme included falsely reporting merchandise as returned and keeping the money, according to police.
