Students say their Myrtle Beach area charter school classmates fondled them: report
At least two students reported their classmates at a Myrtle Beach area charter school fondled them, according to a police report.
On Tuesday, an Horry County police officer spoke to an 11-year-old girl who said she was the victim of fondling. The report lists the dates of the incident between October 2018 and November 2019. The girl said the suspects were her classmates at Bridgewater Academy, and they abused her daily.
The victim was in therapy. She said the treatment helped her reduce the anxiety that came with telling the police about the incidents, according to the report.
Bridgewater Academy is a charter school in the Myrtle Beach area off U.S. Highway 501. It has students from kindergarten to eighth grade.
A classmate also told police they were assaulted by the same suspects on a daily basis, according to the report.
The Horry County police officer who initially responded turned the case over to detectives, the report states.
