A security guard was shot at a Myrtle Beach area bar on Christmas, police say

A security guard working at a Myrtle Beach area bar had shots fired at him after breaking up a fight on Christmas day, according to an Horry County police report.

Police responded to a reported shooting incident at a bar on Socastee Boulevard in Horry County at 1:20 a.m. last Wednesday. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the bar’s armed security guard who explained a fight had erupted inside the bar between two individuals, the report states.

After the security guard broke up the fight, one of the men involved went to his car, grabbed a firearm and began shooting several rounds at the guard as he drove away, according to the report. The security guard returned fire towards the car as it left the property, the report states.

While bullet casings were found at the scene, the guard was not shot, nor were any of the patrons who were in the parking lot during the shooting, the report states.
