Myrtle Beach police find more than a pound of marijuana during arrest of a wanted person

Myrtle Beach police seized more than a pound of marijuana after locating a wanted person, who was arrested along with a passenger in his car, according to an incident report.

Officers recognized Raahkeem Orlando Young, 30, as a wanted person while patrolling in the area of White Street and Acline Avenue on Saturday. Once police made a positive identification that he was the wanted man they were looking for, Young was arrested and taken to Myrtle Beach Jail, the report states.

During the arrest, Christopher Lerone Spivey, a passenger in the car Young was driving, walked away.

Once at the jail, officers revealed they had found a bag containing 512.77 grams of marijuana — the equivalent to just over a pound — and a black and silver digital scale near the passenger side of the car, according to the report. Soon after, Spivey arrived at the jail to retrieve Young’s belongings.

Spivey admitted to having been in the vehicle and leaving the scene of the arrest, police say. Car video footage confirmed Spivey as the passenger who was attempting to hide the bag of marijuana underneath the car during the arrest, the report states. He was then put under arrest.

Young had $990 in cash on him during the arrest, with the bills in assorted denominations, which police say often is a sign of drug dealing. Both were charged with attempting to distribute marijuana.
