She was passed out on drugs, while her toddler was outside with no coat, Conway PD says

A Conway mom was passed out from drugs while her 3-year-old wandered in the cold, according to an arrest report.

Police responded to a Heritage Road address around 10:30 p.m. Sunday and found the toddler outside and unsupervised, the report states. The child didn’t have a coat, but showed no signs of major injury.

Officers took the child inside a home and found the victim’s mother, Erica Jean Cabana-Serrano, unconscious on the bedroom floor, the report states.

Cabana-Serrano had a slow pulse, trouble breathing and officers gave her three doses of Narcan to wake her, according to the report. Officers said they saw a small bag that had three Oxycodone pills sticking out of Cabana-Serrano’s shirt.

EMS personnel came to the home and revived Cabana-Serrano and took her to the hospital.

Once doctors cleared her, Conway police arrested Cabana-Serrano and charged her with unlawful neglect of a child and possession of a Schedule 2 drug.

A relative took custody of the 3-year-old, the report states.

Cabana-Serrano was booked into Horry County’s J. Reuben Long Detention Center on Monday and bail was set at $12,000. Unlawful neglect of a child is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
