Horry County sports bar shooting leads to one man going to prison for more than a decade
A man who shot his then-girlfriend at a Myrtle Beach-area sports bar will head to prison.
Travis Lee Taylor, 37, of Socastee, pleaded guilty to assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature during a Tuesday hearing in Horry County court. Judge Robert Hood sentenced him to 12 years in prison, according to the 15th Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
Taylor faced up to 20 years in prison.
The shooting happened in 2018 as Taylor argued with the woman at the Sunup Sports Bar and Grill in Horry County, according to the solicitor’s office. The woman worked at the establishment. Taylor shot her once in the abdomen and fled the area. The incident was filmed on the bar’s video surveillance system.
