Domestic dispute in North Myrtle Beach turns into a shooting during a tussle

A woman got into a tussle with her ex-boyfriend over a gun, and he was shot, according to a police report.

North Myrtle Beach police charged Sandra Holcomb, 49, with first-degree assault and battery. She was released from J. Reuben Long Detention Center on Monday after posting a $50,000 bond.

Holcomb faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.

On Monday, officers responded to a Ye Old Kings Highway residence for a victim shot in the hand, according to a police report. When police arrived, Holcomb would only say her ex-boyfriend “tried to kill me.”

The boyfriend said he was asleep on the couch when Holcomb came in the front door and demanded her keys and money, the report states. The boyfriend told her they could talk about it later and tried to go upstairs. It was then, Holcomb pulled out a gun and cocked it, police said.

She demanded the man’s money, truck and a computer and made threats, according to the report.

The boyfriend went back downstairs and the two got in a struggle over the gun. When they fell on the floor, the man was shot in the hand, police said. EMS also responded to the scene to check the victim’s condition.
