Conway man faces life in prison in connection to a sexual assault of a minor

A Conway man faces life in prison after being charged with the sexual assault of a minor, according to arrest records.

Horry County police charged Michael Eugene White, 38, with first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor. He remains incarcerated in J. Reuben Long Detention Center and bail has not been set.

In mid-October, a social services counselor reported the allegations to police. The victim, who is related to White, said the incident happened several years ago at a Waccamaw Drive motel, according to a police report. The report says the motel is in the Myrtle Beach area.

First-degree criminal sexual conduct is punishable by 25 years to life in prison.

White is not a registered sex offender in South Carolina, according to online records. His criminal history includes traffic and misdemeanor charges in Horry County.
