Two men charged with attempted murder after firing shotgun through Conway home

Two men are charged with attempted murder after firing a shotgun through a Conway home.

Cyrus Beard III, 20, of Conway and Brandon Cooper, 20, of Myrtle Beach are charged with attempted murder, discharging a firearm into a dwelling, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, according to Horry County police Lt. Raul Denis.

Police responded to a residence on Periwinkle Court in Conway around 5:30 a.m. Thursday when two male victims – 29 and 22 – reported that someone had fired shots through their home.

The 29-year-old victim said he was making breakfast when two people fired a shotgun through his house, the report said. The victim recognized Beard and Cooper, the report said.

Police were able to locate the suspects’ house and recognized a vehicle that matched the victim’s description sitting in the driveway. The passenger side door of the vehicle was left open and the hood was still warm, the report said.

When police knocked on the door, Beard exited the residence and was detained by police. He told police nobody else was inside and there was no shotgun in the home, according to the report.

Police obtained a search warrant and found a shotgun matching the victim’s description lying on a bed. Police announced that they knew there was another person hiding in the house when Cooper “revealed himself from the front bedroom,” the report said.

Police also found the ammunition used during the incident, Denis said.

Beard and Cooper are being detained at J. Reuben Long Detention Center, Denis said.
