Horry County student charged after school bus driver overheard comment about gun

An Horry County school bus driver called police after he overheard a student say he had a gun and was going to use, Horry County police Lt. Raul Denis said Thursday.

The 15-year-old student was searched and officers searched the bus after being called at 1:10 p.m. Thursday, but no guns were found, Denis said. The student was detained and charged with disturbing schools.

The driver had stopped at Green Sea Road and Coats Road when he heard the comment, Denis said. The driver called police through a school bus dispatcher and officers immediately responded.
