A man was arrested in connection with shoplifting after police said he concealed packages of rib-eye steaks down the front of his pants then left a Wal-Mart store without paying.
Joseph Lee Pyatt, 53, was charged with shoplifting enhancement due to four previous shoplifting charges, according to a police report.
Officers were called about midnight Wednesday to the Wal-Mart on Seaboard Street in Myrtle Beach where a witness told police he saw Pyatt enter the store and head to the meat department, authorities said.
The witness told police he saw Pyatt take several packages of rib-eye steaks and that Pyatt took them to the boys’ clothing department where he concealed them down the front of his pants. The witness said Pyatt then walked out of the store without paying, authorities said.
Police said when they arrived to Wal-Mart, they were told Pyatt was last seen running behind the store. Authorities found him and discovered he also had an active arrest warrant, but the details of the warrant weren’t listed in the police report.
