Horry County man shot while changing flat tire, police say

Horry County police responded to Conway Medical Center around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday where a male victim said two armed men shot, kicked and robbed him while he was changing a flat tire.

The victim told police he was somewhere in the area of Highway 701 North near Walkers Road changing a flat tire on the side of the road when two men approached him. The victim thought the two men were going to offer to help with the flat tire, according to Lt. Raul Denis, Horry County police spokesman.

Instead, the two suspects shot an unknown firearm at the victim’s right thigh and robbed him of his wallet before fleeing in a white Ford or Chevy truck, police said. The suspects also repeatedly kicked the victim in his ribs and chest area, the report said.

The victim drove to his home is Loris and had a family member drive him to Conway Medical Center, Denis said. The victim is in stable condition.

The victim could only describe the suspects as a black male and a white male, possibly wearing a hat, police said.
