Myrtle Beach police found a gun with bullets and drugs after searching a car stopped at a local gas station, according to a police report.

Justice Lee Washell, 19, was charged with possession of a firearm, and James David Daily, 23, was charged with possession of marijuana, second offense, police said.

Officers were on patrol about 1 a.m. Monday at the Circle K gas station at 1100 N. Kings Hwy when they began investigating a potential alcohol violation involving minors.

Authorities said they smelled marijuana emitting from the car the men were in, and Dailey appeared “extremely nervous” and kept saying he just “wanted to go home,” according to the report.

Police said they found a bag of marijuana, which weighed 22.6 grams, in Dailey’s front pocket after he told them he had it.

After searching the car, authorities said they found a.38 special revolver, and that Washell said it was his gun.

Police entered Washell’s name in their information systems and discovered he has been convicted of a violent felony in South Carolina. The details of the past offense were not included in the report.

Authorities dropped the gun and five bullets found with it into an evidence locker at the Myrtle Beach Police Department, along with the marijuana.

Washell and Dailey were each booked at the Myrtle Beach Jail.
