Georgetown authorities searching for suspect after wallet stolen

Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office authorities are searching for a suspect after a wallet was stolen on April 21, according to Carrie Cuthbertson, sheriff’s office spokesperson.

Authorities said that a credit card from the stolen wallet was used at a Kangaroo Express on Blackgum Road in Pawleys Island.

Police were given surveillance footage from store management of a man who was believed to be connected to the case; however, an investigation revealed this was not the right suspect.

Authorities issued an apology after the man’s picture was released on social media connecting him to the case, Cuthbertson said.

Police are still looking for the suspect involved in the fraudulent transaction.

Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office at 546-5101.
