Motorcyclist involved in crash during Bikefest in North Myrtle Beach area has died

A second motorcyclist involved in a crash on May 22 on U.S. 17 in the North Myrtle Beach area has died, authorities said.

Charlie Evans, 47, of Henderson, N.C., died at 11 a.m. Sunday from injuries he suffered in the motorcycle crash, Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard said.

Evans had been receiving treatment at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center since the crash that happened about 9 p.m. May 22, authorities said.

Lance Cpl. Hannah Wimberly with the S.C. Highway Patrol said the crash occurred on U.S. 17 at Kings Road and involved three motorcyclists and a Chevrolet Sport Utility Vehicle.

Thomas Martin Jr. 52, also of Henderson, N.C., was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, Willard said at the time of the crash.

S.C. Highway Patrol's Multi-Disciplinary Accident Investigation Team continues to investigate the crash.
