Myrtle Beach police are searching for suspects after three victims said they were sleeping in a car when they awoke to a group of men outside surrounding them, one pointing a gun and demanding money, authorities said.

Officers were called about 2:45 a.m. Sunday to the roadway of 16th Avenue North and Withers Drive where two 21-year-old men and a 22-year-old man reported the incident, police said.

One of the 21-year-old victims told police that the group was asleep in the car when he woke up to find an unknown man and about five others surrounding the car.

The victim said that one man was pointing a gun at him and demanded his wallet. The victim said he got out of the car and gave it to him, authorities said.

The other 21-year-old victim and 22-year-old victim said the suspect holding the gun and the others approached them while they were in the backseat of the car. One suspect said, “Give me your wallets, or I’m gonna shoot you,” according to the report.

The two victims told the suspect no and jumped out of the car toward the back and said that was when the suspect pointed a black handgun toward them and fired one round of ammunition between them, authorities said.

The victims told police the suspects all ran westbound toward Kings Highway after the shots were fired, according to the report.

One of the victims told police that he was robbed of $40 and debit and credit cards.

Myrtle Beach police detectives are investigating the incident.

Authorities ask that anyone with information about the incident call the Myrtle Beach Police Department 918-1382.
