Police respond after money taken from woman during gambling game at Coastal Grand Mall

Myrtle Beach police said it was unclear whether a woman was the victim of theft or if she simply lost money in a gambling game she says took place at Coastal Grand mall, according to a police report.

Officers were called about 3 p.m. Friday to the mall, where two 20-year-old women told police they were in the mall when they came across a man performing a gambling game.

The women said they each had taken $400 out of an ATM before they saw the man. One of the women was holding all the money while watching and participating in the gambling game, authorities said.

The woman said when the game finished, the man took the money from her hand “without force” and walked away with it, according to the report.
