Woman reporting stolen money from gambling was arrested on drug charge
A 20-year-old woman was charged with drug possession after she called police to report she had been robbed, but officers learned she had been gambling, according to a police report.
Gabriella Alexis McKenzie, 20, was charged with simple possession of marijuana after she called officers about 10:30 p.m. Thursday to the parking lot of 1601 N. Kings Highway, police said.
McKenzie initially told police she had money stolen from her, but after more investigation officers learned she had lost the money while gambling, according to the report.
While speaking to McKenzie, the officer noted a smell of marijuana around her and her vehicle, according to the report. Officers found a baggy of marijuana on McKenzie and she was arrested.
