Bomb squad called in after suspicious package found in Myrtle Beach area
Horry County Police Department’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal team worked a scene Thursday after a suspicious package was found in the Myrtle Beach area, said Capt. John Harrelson.
The package turned out to be an empty briefcase with disposed fire alarms underneath it, Harrelson said. The fire alarms were beeping as their batteries died.
The suspicious package was found in a dumpster near an apartment complex on Wagon Wheel Road, Harrelson said. Officials gave an all clear less than an hour after the package was found.
The package was reportedly making a noise inside the dumpster.
