Driver dies in single-vehicle crash early Thursday in Georgetown County

One person was killed early Thursday in a single-vehicle crash in Georgetown County, authorities said.

The driver of a 2002 Chevrolet pickup truck died when the vehicle went off the right side of the road and hit a tree, said Cpl. Sonny Collins with the S.C. Highway Patrol.

The person’s name has not been released by the Georgetown County Coroner’s Office.

The crash was reported at 5 a.m. Thursday on Ray Road in Georgetown, Collins said. The vehicle was going south on Ray Road when the crash occurred. No other vehicles or people were involved and the driver was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
