Police respond to liquor store robbery
Myrtle Beach police responded after a liquor store employee was robbed at gunpoint Monday morning, according to a police report.
Officers were called about 11:30 a.m. to Andy’s Liquor at 711 S. Kings Highway where a 77-year-old victim reported the incident, police said.
The victim told police that he suspected the alleged robber might shoplift from the store, because the suspect was looking at a lot of different items. The victim said the suspect selected a bottle of Grey Goose vodka and brought it to the counter.
The victim said that as he was ringing up the sell, the suspect pulled out a black handgun and told the victim to put money from the register into a bag, authorities said.
The victim said the suspect then told him to go to the bathroom and close the door or he would shoot him. The victim told police he yelled that he had a gun, and the suspect ran out of the store with cash and a bottle of liquor, authorities said.
The victim said he followed the suspect out of the store and saw him run north, toward a silver sedan, which was parked at a neighboring business, police said.
Police are still investigating the incident. No arrests had been made in connection with the robbery as of Tuesday morning.
